The 4-Way Ratchet has been designed
so that it can be operated in it's 4 special configurations. In
what we call the open configuration, the handle has been pulled
into open, it can be operated just like a conventional ratchet,
changing the direction of the ratchet action left or right by
changing the direction level found on the head of the tool. This
direction lever is the same as found on many conventional ratchets

4 WAY
RATCHET OPERATION EXPLAINED IN SHORT
OPERATION
Designed as a time and knuckle
saver. The 4-Way Ratchet can be operated in 4 ways:
1. With the handle in the extended position (Open) and the
change of direction bar in the clockwise position, it can be
operated as a conventional ratchet to undo a nut or bolt.
2. Still with the handle extended, but with the change of
direction bar turned in the anti-clockwise direction, as with the
conventional ratchet, it will now do up a nut or bolt.
3. When a difficult or hard to get to nut or bolt is
encountered and the normal ratcheting action is restricted by a
lack of space, with the handle in the extended (open) position,
change the direction bar to the clockwise position. Reduce the
tension on the nut or bolt with whatever ratchet action is
available, then push the handle into (closed) and twist to wind
the nut or bolt out.
4. To do up a nut or bolt in a restricted position, have the
ratchet handle pushed in (closed) and the change of direction bar
in an anti-clockwise position. Twist the handle until the nut or
bolt becomes tight, then extend the handle (open) and tighten the
nut or bolt with normal ratching.
Frequently Asked Questions about
the 4-Way
Question : Is it possible to take the tension off a
bolt or nut with the tool in the twisting configuration?
Answer : This depends on how tight the nut or bolt
is. The average male can achieve 50ft/lbs of torque in the
twisting action. However, It is best to loosen the nut or
bolt with the tool in the normal ratcheting configuration.
Question : How strong is the ratchet?
Answer : A strong male or female using the 1/2inch
ratchet can reach about 84ft/lbs. The 1/2inch ratchet in
the normal ratcheting configuration will go to 116ft/lbs.
Question : Do the ratchets fit any sockets?
Answer : Yes. The ratchets are made to fit any
standard 1/4inch, 3/8inch or 1/2inch drive sockets.
